Newmont Éléonore and Wolf Camp Corporation: A Strong Partnership Built on Sustainability and Inclusion
Newmont Éléonore, a leading gold producer, has been operating in northern Quebec since 2015. As part of their commitment to sustainability and responsible business practices, they have formed a strong partnership with Wolf Camp Corporation, a fully owned Indigenous company of the Cree Nation of Wemindji.
Wolf Camp Corporation provides catering and janitorial services to Newmont Éléonore and has become an important part of the mining company's family. The partnership has been built on a foundation of inclusion and diversity, as well as a commitment to sustainable practices.
The collaboration between Newmont Éléonore and Wolf Camp Corporation has resulted in 92 employees, with 51% Indigenous and 47% women. This demonstrates the importance of the partnership in supporting Indigenous businesses and promoting gender diversity in the mining industry.
Recently, with the support of La Société du Plan Nord, Newmont Éléonore completed a project with Wolf Camp Corporation to help them develop their own corporate Sustainable Responsibility Strategy. This included guidelines for sustainable cafeteria practices, waste management, developing a grievance mechanism, managing cultural heritage, and promoting inclusion and diversity. By providing this support, Newmont Éléonore is helping Wolf Camp Corporation become a leader in sustainable business practices.
Wolf Camp Corporation is also part of the Employment and Training Committee with other Cree partners of the Collaboration Agreement. Wolf Camp Corporation is always looking for ways to improve the quality of its services and increase client satisfaction. They anticipate the needs of the client and have maximized employee retention from the Cree Nation while maintaining a high quality of services in the catering and janitorial sectors.
Wolf Camp Corporation's vision is to optimize their services and obtain their clients' goals by providing quality products and services while ensuring full satisfaction. Their mission is to share and adapt their expertise with their clients to provide them with the best service. They value integrity and transparency, which are important to create a strong and lasting partnership.
The partnership between Newmont Éléonore and Wolf Camp Corporation is an excellent example of how collaboration between a mining company and an Indigenous-owned business can lead to sustainable practices, promote diversity and inclusion and create economic opportunities for Indigenous communities.
